Chapey.wpntr2018-12-19T18:03:38+00:00The Chapey is a big kind of Guitar originating from Cambodia and Thailand. It is called as Kra-chapey in Thailand and as Chapey-Thom in Cambodia. The name of the instrument originates from ‘Gatchapi’, a Java word and this word originates from ‘Gatchapa’, which means turtle in ‘Pali-Sanskrit’. The instrument is named as Chapey because its body reminds of turtle. The Chapey orinally consists of two strings but sometimes it can have 3 or 4 strings (like this instrument with two double strings).
