‘Dan’ is a word which used as a fore name for most of the instruments originating from Vietnam. The’Dan Day’ has a long neck, a trapezoid body and three strings. The instrument is used for accompaniment among ‘A-Dao’ (professional singers). It is an independen tinstrument. There is a rectangle opening at its back, the low and high wooden frets are at the below part of the neck. The strings are tuned in forthes. Free strings are never played. The instrument is ornamented with mother of pearl.
