Dramnyen (Sgra-Snyan)

Originating from Tibet Dramynen has a body made from one piece of wood. Its semi-circle bottom part is tied withyak skin and the upper part is carved. The tuners box has usually a Makara head (a mythical creature). The instrument at the back side which has been produced in Tibet since the culture revolution is ornamented with a painted board instead of the carved head. The strings are generally thick and made from rope. The instrument in the mid is a small version with four strings, right a medium version with five strings and left with six strings.They are all played with plectrum.
