African Bow Harps.wpntr2018-12-19T17:55:42+00:00The sethin instruments with five strings probably come from the western parts of Africa ,from the North of Camerun/Northeast of Nigeria ,where they are common. Both upper part and the bottom part of the instrument is covered with animal skin. At one harp (behind) two pieces of leather are tie deach other with leather ropes. Its bottom is round and the neck part is flat. There are three big and six small sound holes on the surface. There is a wooden part where the strings are attached to the surface. The small harp (frontside) probably comes from Camerun, as well. The side of this instrument is formed from the basement of the leather part and attached to the wooden base. There is a carved wood piece of pin-tree at the backside of the body.
