The peel from the palm tree were detached and used as strings which are placed on a bridge. The strings are picked with the fingers. The circles which are made from a characteristic tree of Africa called as Rotang are used to compress the string and by this way, the sound is emerged. The calabash on the instrument is pressed against the chest while playing it.
