East Afrikansche Spiesslaute

Originating from Kenya this instrument with long handle has a resonator covered with goat skin ornamented with mussels. With this aspect, it has some common characteristic features with the arched harps originating from Kenya. The neck of the instrument enters the resonator, crosses it and leaves it like a spike. At the top part of the instrument a gibbon is carved. The four tuners mounted at the back of the instrument are attached in crosswise position to the fretless neck. It can be estimated that it was aimed to produced a lyre-like instrument because of its handle position.
