This instrument has been very popular in Vietnam since 11th century, it is possible to see this instrument in many occasions. In the South part of Vietnam it is played in the ‘CaiLuong’ opera. This instrument is ornamented with mother of pearl. The strings of this instrument were once made from silk but now they are made from nylon and these strings pass over eight high frets in an order according to pentatonic system.
