The Fidels can be played on the lap, by putting on the knee, or putting on the chest. The version of these instruments having two sound slits, pegs at the backside, a handle with seven frets made of nylon, an oval body with four strings. Its top is domed. It is possible to observe the similarities between Gamben and modern Fidel. The size of its body changes according to the bass and soprano sounds. The smallest one of these instrument is Soprano-Fidel.
