Kipango

The East African instrument Kipango has a handle consisting of a calabash acting as a resonator. This calabash is stabilised with a rope connected to the top part of the handle. Kipango has generally 6 strings. When it is closely checked, it is realised that only one string is used and it passes through the top and bottom holes again and again as in the Enanga instrument. Every string formed from this string relates completly to the tension of the string and the direction of the string passing from the hole gains endurance with different tension. Various adjustments can also be possible via the bridges which can be moved.
