Although it has some versions made from hard trees such as hornbeam, walnut tree and plum tree, the ones made from apricot tree is the most acceptable type. ’Balaban’ consisting of a flat mouthpiece, a reed mounted to the mounth part and a body has 280-300mm length and 20-22mm diameter. Its sound is dull and light. As it has a weak sound, it is usually indoors and in the room meetings. The sound can be thickened or be made thinner by the clamp on the reed. The reed which is flattened by a special technique consists of a clamp and body. By moving the clamps up and down on the reed, the frets can be changed and it can easily harmonises with the other instrument groups with this speciality.
