Stringed Dulcimer

The instrument played by a bow was developed by Fred Bühler from Switzerland for pedagogical purposes. He was inspired from the former triangle shape of psalters and he began to play it with a bow. He called it ‘Streichpsalter’ (psalter played with a bow) and transformed it to an instrument family consisting all kind of voices from bass to the soprano. Sometimes this instrument is played by either beating the strings by a stick or pulling them. The tone of the instrument is chromatic. Whole tones are on the right and semitones are on the left part.
