Takhe.wpntr2018-12-19T18:37:29+00:00The Takhe (behind) is the favorite kind of zither of the Mohori orchestra which is highly appreciated by Cambodian. It is presumed that this instrument was developed from the Chakhe, a Thailand instrument. Its board made from a hard wood is located on a basement carved from the bottom part with voice holes. It has a crocodile shape (takhe = crocodile) in draft like the zither with crocodile shape originating from Myanmar. The sound is so clear because of its resonance board causing the high tones as well as the voice reflecting downwards. This instrument is played (sometimes with a tremolo) with a plectrum resembling a piece of bone over 12 tones.
